Monday December the 17th AD 1900 hundred Opened up quite a cloudey morning the Sun is coming. out Sum (some) what at earley hour to day. although it is very cloudey. The wind is from the South west. damp and some what cool The thermometer registers this morning at 48 Degrees tempature. The family was all out of bed quite earley this morning as Geroge William Frownfelter Stayed with us last night and he is a earley riser for a chap one year old as well as the balance of the familey all earley risers. after all were out of bed clothes on the woman folks then proceeded to the cook pot then prepared the mornings meal, after getting of it Served and on the table we then Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our mornings meal. when through the woman folks taken care of the breakfast table and put evry thing about the Kitchen and dining room in good repare. then put the dwelling. house also after they were through. they Spent about too hours in familey conversation. after they were through they then prepared the noons meal quite earley in the day as the (they) were calculating to go to Crawford in the afternoon after i was through with my meal this mornings i then walked down too the lower end or Side of field South of my house and choped fire wood for the house untill a bout half past Eleven. Oclock A.M. then Stoped chopping wood come to the house and fed my teem. by that time the woman had our noons meal Served on the table readey for be eat. so we all Sit down to the table then portaken of our noons meal as we had our Daughter virginia Frownfelter and children to dine with us to day as they are down from Joshua Johnson county Texas to Stay with the old folks at home. for Some too weeks or more after we were through with our meal the woman folks taken zacare of the dinner table, whilst i caught curried then geered ` my teem hitched them too my wagon, by that time the woman folks was readey for there trip to Crawford so we all mounted in my wagone then drove for the town of Crawford after arriving at the place we dismounted from the wagon then taken the town in for Some three hours and after they got through with there Shopping. we then mounted in the the wagon i then drove for my place. of abode after we arrived at home we dismounted from the wagon then unhitched and ungeered my my teem, then put Walker in my Stable and Judy in the Stall i then walked out in too the cornfield and gathered corn to feed on to night and in the ` morning. brought it too the crib then fed my teem and fattening hogs from that part of the work i then prepared more wood for night and morning as i did not have enough to last till morning then Edney and Loueasey brought it in doors for me. we then Staked the calves out in the Straw Stack to eat the Straw as other feed is Scarse with me, after getting the work finished out of doors we come in doors then eat, our evening meal as the woman had it Served and on the table. readey for to be eat after getting through with our meal my wife Annie and Edney Leng washed and put a way the dishes. then put the dining room in order for the next meal after getting through my wife and the girles moved in too our bed room then the girles departed to there bed of repose whilst my wife placed her Self by her table by a good light and red (read) the news as i brought Several news papers Sent to me by my Son E.D.Costley and one from Goldthwait. Sent to me by my Son at Goldthwait by the name of J. M. Costley. So it taken her Some time to get through with the news. during the. time that She was perusing the pages of the times Herald and the Goldthwait paper i was engaged in recording of the labors of the day. of my familey and my Self. which has been quite a buisey day with my family and my Self. the day has, passed off quite a nice day after all but Still Some what cloudey . the Sun partially Shining out at interval through the day. Bosque. creek. Tuesday December the 18th AD 1900 hundred opened up quite a cloudey morning and damp. wind from the South Thermometer registered at 56 Degrees tempature. The familey was out of there beds of rest quite earley this morning clothes on readey for buisiness. and did go at it just wright. the(n) prepared the mornings meal quite earley after it was Served and. on the table we Seated our Selves down too the table then portaken of the mornings meal when through my wife taken care of her breakfast table and put her dining room and Kitchen and dwelling room in good Shape. whilst i went to the woods and choped Some fire wood for the house after getting enough cut to make out a load i then come too the house hitched my teem too my wagon as the geer was all ready on them as i had had halled a barrel of water from the Bosque. I then drove down in too the timber South East of my house and loaded the wood on my wagon the(n) drove for my house after arriving at the place. i unloaded my wagon of wood then fed my teem by that time my wife had the noons meal Served on the table then portaken of the Same when through the woman folks taken care of the dinner table then put evry thing pertaining to the table in good Shape again including the dining room and Kitchen also. I then chitched my teem too my wagon then Edna and Loueasey Leng and My Self mounted in the wagon. I then drove out in too my pasture west from my hous(e) after a load of wood to take to Crawford to the Blacksmith Mr Edwards. after getting of the wood loaded i then drove for Crawford. after arriving at the place i then unloaded the wood at the old Parsen Right place in the South west end of Crawford after getting unloaded i then drove back too the postoffice and obtain my mail i then drove to Hickersons grocery then baught a lot of pecons for the children that was with me from there i drove down to the Depot after Some potatoes that Virginia Frownfelter Shipped to me from Joshua Johnson aCounty Texas. after paying the fre(i)ght on them which was 40 cents for too bushels of Potatoes the conductor or rather the opperrator rowled them out of the wair house too the end of the plat form and then we loaded them in too my wagon. I mounted in the wagon then drove for my place of a bode. watering my teem at the middle Bosque as i returned home after i arrived at the place i dismounted from my wagon then unhitched and ungeered my teem after getting them ungeered i walked too the cribb obtained three bundles of oats then led my teem to the upper field north east of the railroad. turned them loose then gave them the oats. i then Secured the gate by tying of it walked back to my bribb Shuched corn and fed the fattening hogs. i then choped up Some Stove wood then Loueasey and Edney Leng brought it in doors for me, So that ended. the out door work. I then come in doors. washed my hands and face by that time my wife had the evenings meal Served and on the table readed for to be eat we all Sealed our Selves too the table then portaken of the Same. when through my wife taken care of the Suppertable and put evry thing in good Shape a gain. after She was through She then moved in too her bed room then taken up a waco. paper and perused its pages for the news for Some time, then layed the paper by and parched Coffe whilst Virginia Frownfelter and her Kidds retired to there bed of rest as they complained of being Some what Sleepy. As to my Self, So Soon as i eat my evenings meal i then went to work to finish the recording of the labor that has been performed on the premises by my wife and my self and also a discription of the weather. the South west wind was Some what cool this evening. and Still cloudey and damp. but good working weather. And when done with these frail bodys of ours to hand us down to our grave in peace with the (Thee) and all man Kind and in heaven Save us is my prayer to night Amen Wednesday December the 19th AD 1900 hundred Opened up quite a cool morning as there is a Stiff norther blowing from the north. blew up in the latter part of the night just past but clear with the exception of a Streek of cloud lying low down from the north to the east. The thermometer registers in the Earley part of the morning at 40 Degrees tempature Sun Shining very bright. and nice. The familey was all out of bed quite earley this morning as Georgee William Frownfelter being a year old past is a very earley riser. and rousted all up a round him. Edney Leng is nine years old to day being her birthday and apears to be in pirfect health growing rapedley. and is with her grand Mamma and Grand Papa on a visit from Joshua Johnson County Texas as that is her place of a bode at present the woman Folks went to work and prepared the morning meal after getting of it Served. and on the table we then Seated our Selves to the table having Virginia Frownfelter and familey to dine with us then Eat our morning meal. after we were through with our morning meal Anna (and) Edney Leng taken care of breakfast table and washed and put a way the breafast (breakfast) dishes and put the dining room and the Kitchen in good order for the time being then put the Sleeping department in good order for the day after i had portaken of my meal i then fed the fattenhogs and claves and the fowls then remained by the fire for a bit as it was rather cold to be out earley in the morning So the entire familey enjoyed the warmth of a good warm. fire. where each and evry one could enjoy them Selves and passed the morning off pleasantly a monxt the familey circle alone as were . them Selves. I Sat a round the fire circle of the familey listening at there prattle of familey discourse enjoying my Self eating of Pecans that the children gave me to eat. untill a bout ten Oclock A.M. of Said day from which i began to Stur out doors to buisiness a round the premises. that nead doing. I first and formost walked over in too the woods to See if the Turkeys had layed to day. afterwards i choped up a lot of wood for to Suply (supply) the fire place to day. also i cutt up a lot of Stove wood and Loueasey Leng brought it in doors. to be handy for the cook to handle in cooking the meals vituals. to day. as the day advanses the wind appears to grow Stronger and cooler. at this writing being half past Eleven Oclock A.M. of to day. Shortley after the time mention my wife and Virginia Frownfelter commenced to prepare the noons meal at at one oclock P.M. readey for to be eat Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of the Same when through with our meal. The woman folks washed and put a way there dishes used at the dinner table. After getting through then they taken a rest for some bit then went to work a gain and was buisey untill they prepared the evening mealand the table cared far after eating then they taken there (their)rest again before going too there bed of repose as to my Self after eating of my noons meal. i then taken My bridals and acompanied Annie and Edney Leng up too my pasture gate north of my (house) as they were going to W.R. Tubbs to See there Cousins as they have not Seen them is ome too years. or more. I then taken the public Road leading to Crawford and travailed (traveled) the Same untill i come too my field from (?) i crossed over in Side of the Same. and caught my teem then brought them down too the house Saddled Walker mounted on him then led Judy too middle Bosque and watered them. after they had drank i rode back too my cribb unSaddled my put him in the Stable and Judy in the Stall then taken a Sack walked down in too my cornfield and gathered a couple of Sacks of corn brought it too the cribb then fed my teem and fattening hogs after getting through. i brought my night wood in doors with the help of Loueasey Leng. after we were through i drove the milk calves out too the lott tied and fed them, i then come in doors washed my hands and face by that time the woman folks had. the evening meal Served and on the table readey to eat we then Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of the Same when through the woman folks taken care of the Supper table and put evry thing about the table in good Shape for the present time then Seated them Selves in the bed room by a good fire to a wait for the hour to go to bed after my evenings meal i Seated. my Self too my desk then began to finish recording of the labors of the day of my familey and my Self also a discription of the weather through out the day the wind changed as often as twice from the north to north west and back to the north again but has been clear and bright all day and the Sun Shined out beautiful and brigh as borned to rule the Sky and as the day advanced it turned Some what cooler. now as the days work is finished we will go to our bed of repose. by first asking the lord (Lord) to gard and protect us through the present night as he has through the day just passed and gone, and when done with our frail bodys here on earth, to hand us down to our grave in peace with the (Thee) and all man Kind and in heaven Save us is my pray (prayer) to high. The thermometer registers at an earley hour to day at 36 Degrees tempature. The familey all too my Self were out of bed quite earley this morning. clothes on readey for buisiness. I was up and built on a fire the first one to be up but after building the fire i went to bed again. and Slept untill the woman folks prepared the mornings meal i then a rose from my bed of Slumber put my clothes on washed my hands and face then we seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our mornings meal all eating very heartily as the familey apeared to be enjoying good health. after we were through with our meals vituals my wif(e) taken care of the breakfast table washed and put away her dishes cupps Saucers Knives and forks then put her Kitchen and dining room in good Shape for the present time and Virginia Frownfelter made the beds up then put the house in order for today whilst Loueasey brought in the water to Supply the house and Georg(e) William Frownfelter annoyed his mother very much and done his part of the whindeling and for my part i was at the desk noting down the buisiness of the day carried on by the familey i then fed my teem and the fattening hogs. about that time Mr Fagan come over to Kill a hog. as cold as it is or was he departed too his place of abode, and i went to pulling corn. in the valley North of the house and pulled Eight roes (rows) then come to the house cought my teem then curried and geered my teem, then hitched them too my wagon then mounted in the wagon then drove a round too where. i Keep my wagon under a live oak tree and put my chicken coop after putting the coop in the wagon i then drove round too my Stable then caught eight turkeyes and put them in the coop and taken them to Crawford to Sell. after my wife and Virginia Frownfelter and too of her children Loueasey Leng and young. George Frownfelter got readey for the tripp we all mounted in the wagon and i then drove out. for the city of Crawford after arriving at Crawford we dismounted from our wagon then went to Selling turkeys in the course of too (two) hours. we had disposed of the last one then the woman folks done there little Shopping that my (wife) had to do , after they were through we then mounted in our wagon i then drove for my place of a bode, after arriving at my place we all dismount from my wagon then taken the dry goods and groceries out of the wagon . I then mounted in my wagon then drove down in too the valley north of my house then loaded the corn in the wagon then drove too my cribb and uloaded the Same i then drove too my water Stand loaded the barren in the wagon, then. Walter. Tubbs. and Loueasey Leng and my Self mounted in the wagon i then drove too the Middle Bosque after a barrel of water. after getting of the barrel filled i then drove for my place of abode, after arriving at the . place i dismounted from my wagon taken the children out then unhitched my teem, then pulled the geer off of them then fed the teem. after getting through feeding of the teem i come too the house and i was my told by the familey that Walter Tubbs had gone home and that Edney Leng had gone a long to See that he did not get lost as he was not more than three years old he had come down to my house with his Sister Cora Tubbs annie and Edney Leng and whilst we were gone after water his Sister lit out for her place of a bode and when, Walter Tubbs returned from the Creek and found out that his Sister had left for home he could not bare the idear of Staying all night So he lit out for his home Edney going with him to See that he did not get lost on the way. So i Struck out for my pasture gate north of my hous(e) and also on the road that they have to travail ( travel) to See if they Started out right after arriving at the gate i found out that they had Struck the right road as i could See then (them) up the lane a head of me, So i turned back for my place to wind up the balance of my night work, after i was through i come indoors washed my hands and face then dried them we then Seated our Selves too the table and , portaken of our evenings meal when through my wife taken care of the Supper table and put evry thing in good Shape a gain for the next meal, as there was churning to do to night She rolled the churn in too the bed room by a comfortable fire and began to churn, after She had churned for a bit i taken hold and finished churning She then taken up the butter then worked the milk a way from it then put it a way then her and Virginia Frownfelter departed to there bed of repose and left me to finish recording of the labor that has been performed on the premises to day and also to give a discription of the weather through out the day. This has been a beautiful bright day pirfectly clear but rather cool. Costley at home near middle bosque creek Friday December the 21st AD 1900 hundred opened up very cold heavey frost and freeze wind very cold from the South. pirfectley clear not a cloud to be Seen in the Elements. Thermometer registers at and earley hour this morning at 33 Degrees tempature, The familey was out of bed quite earley to day as it is expected to be a day for Killing one of our fattening hogs providing Mr Fagan comes to assist i was the last one to arise from my bed of Slumber. The familey Soon had the mornings meal Served on the table announced readey for to be eat we then Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our mornings meals when through with our meal, we all went to our dailey work. first thing. i did after eating my meal was to feed my teem and milk calves. then i made preperation for Killing of the hog Such as building of the fire then putting on the water to boil to Scald the hog with. about that time Mr. Fagan come over and assisted in filling the pot and tin boiler with water whilst i was prepareing the wood for the fire. after getting evry thing in readiness we then proceeded to the hogpen then Killed the hog then him and i drug him up too the Smoke house in order to get out of the wind and as the water was a boiling we went to work Scalding and getting the hare off ove the Same having my wife and Virginia Leng (Frownfelter) to assist us and we was out as Short while pulling the hare off ove the hog we then hung the hog up then Mr Fagan taken the entrils but of the came after he was through and the hog washed down him and i prepared table placed it in front of the north room door then brought the hog and placed it on the Same then cut it up and put it in Shape for Salting down. i then gave the head and Some bones to Mrs. Fagan for assisting in Killing of the hog he then departed to his place of a bode well pleased. with his days work and pay. my wife then taken the fat off of the entrals when through with that part of the work her and Virginia Frownfelter prepared the noons meal. after getting of it Served and on the table and announced ready to be eat we all Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of the Same. when we were through with our meal my wife then taken care of her dinner table washed then put away her dishes Knives and forks teacupps and Sausers then put her Kitchen and dining room in order for the present. whilst Virginia. Frownfelter went to work to making a garment for one of her children. Whilst i watered my teem at the Middle Bosque after returning back from water i then fed my teem. and went to work gathing (gathering) corn corn in the valley north of of my house I pulled down corn untill late this evening . from which i left off work then come too the house and taken a rest as i felt very feble after resting for a while i then, i then taken my teem to the upper field. turned them in the field to graze to night. after Securing of the gates i walked back too my house then taken Cora Tubbs my grandaughter horse put him in the Stable then fed him also the fowls and fattening hogs. i then prepared Stove wood to cook with. i also prepared fire place wood and Loueasey Leng brought it in doors for me, I then come in doors washed my hands and face then taken a Seat down in front of a good fire for about 20 minutes. Then i was called to my evening meal. by Loueasy Leng i then responded to the call then proceeded to the Supper table we then all Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our evenings meal having Cora Tubbs to dine with us She is here to day for the purpose of making her a new gown. and to get Virginia Frownfelter her aunt and her grand mother to assist her in making if it so they are at work on it to night. But before begining to work on the frock they taken care of the Suppertable and evrything in good order for to night. This has been a very nice day but the south wind has been high and cool all day and at a late hour . it began to cloud up in the west and north and resembled falling weather. but previous to that time through the day. the Elements was pirfectly clear not a cloud to be Seen in the Elements. no where, to be Seen by the necked eye. I have been Some what feble today as my bowels has been great trouble to me all through the day with Severe paines all through my Side and breast where i was heart (hurt) when the wagon run over me Some time back. my wife lost her Specks this evening and She was bothered for Some time looking for them but at last She found them lying on the flower So She was at ease once more, and went to combing of her hare to Straten it out as She had gotten her hare Some what crooked in hunting of Eye glasses.
